It's a holly, jolly Christmas...
I saw this recipe yesterday on Facebook and thought it was perfect for all those Christmas movies we plan to watch over the next couple of weeks.
"RECIPE FOR POPPYCOCK - 14 CUPS OF POPPED CORN
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup corn syrup
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp baking soda
2-3 cups of mixed nuts, i used pecans.
salt to taste
preheat oven to 225 degrees, i used micro wave popcorn. put popped corn in a large roasting pan and keep warm in oven.in large pot add butter brown sugar, and syrup. cook till sugar is dissolved, then bring to a boil over medium heat let it boil for five minutes without stirring. add vanilla and baking soda stir and pour over popcorn and nuts put back in oven and bake for one hour stirring every ten minutes let cool and break into bite size pieces will keep for quite awhile but not around my house it is so good, enjoy."

Spinach and Cheese Crescents

Ingredients
1/2 cup sliced Diamond of California® Almonds
1 package (10 ounces) frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed dry
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup chopped onion
2 teaspoons olive oil
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 package (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent rolls
Directions
In a food processor, finely chop the almonds. Add the spinach, cheese, onion, oil, salt and pepper; cover and process until well blended.
Unroll and separate the crescent dough into eight pieces. Spread spinach mixture evenly over dough to within 1/8 in. of edges. Roll up and place on a greased baking sheet.
Bake at 375° for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm. Yield: 8 servings.
I have been seeing all sorts of thread crochet over the last few days and it's really lighting a bit of a fire under my you know what. I really want to do a doily...perhaps I'll rummage around to find myself a hook, some cotton and a pattern. It's been quite some time so I think I will start with something relatively simple. I did say I would make some dishcloths first. Maybe that's a better idea. I can get my tension back before I start working with thread again.
