This has been a week when I have seen lots of pictures that remind me of Christmases from days gone by. Do you remember making pine cone Christmas trees?? I do. The star on top was not nearly so elaborate though - we cut out stars from construction paper and Mom held them in place with a straight pin.
I saw this next one and I remember being very scared that Santa would bypass our house because we had no fireplace for him to come down. Even as a child I thought it was rather hokey that he could get in using an air vent!
When we lived back east, I remember Dad taking us out for a sleigh ride, a little ice skating or a walk to look at all the pretty Christmas lights. I know about two weeks before Christmas I could hardly fall asleep at night because of my absolute sheer excitement! I guess they were trying to wear us out so we'd go to sleep.
And then I saw these next two and a smile spread across my face with thoughts of a white Christmas...
